Steals & Deals: Coach Oxfords

Steals & Deals is a segment on Corn-fed Couture, where I share with you my latest bargain finds. I love designer swag at a price I can afford. That's why I'm constantly digging through the clearance racks and making weekly trips to Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx. There's nothing like the thrill of the hunt...the hunt for the next steal of a deal.

Today I made my weekly trip to TJ Maxx and came away with these beauties. Coach Mint Zinnia Tassle Oxfords. They were originally priced at $198, but I scored them for the fab price of $39.99. I am loving the mint, icy blue color, and the cute tassle detail. I will be rocking these all throughout winter, especially with these Joe's boyfriend jeans which I scored for $3.95 at Nordstrom Rack. Yep, Joe's Jeans for $3.95. Just call be the bargain queen.

Stay tuned for the next Steals & Deals!

Fall Footwear Fashion: 10 Pairs You Can Afford

It's that time of year again. Time to cover up our feet and put away the strappy sandals and open toe shoes, and bust out the boots, booties, and ballet flats. Living in the Midwest, we need shoes that are able to withstand our cold autumns and snowy winters. Here are some of my favorite footwear trends for fall. And did I mention all of these pairs are less than $200? Happy shopping!

1. D'Orsay Flats

These are a great flat for fall, prior to the snow fall. I am loving the cutout flats trend. So much so, that both my mom and I picked up matching Chinese Laundry D'Orsay flats the other week. They look awesome with just about anything. I particularly love pairing them with rolled up boyfriend jeans, and my mom rocks hers with skinnies.

2. Wedge Sneaker

I bought my first pair of wedge sneakers this past spring, while in London. Mine are by Dune London. I think I am even more obsessed with them now that I can wear them even more in the fall. With skinny jeans or leggings, they are a great casual shoe for traveling or running your Saturday errands. They can dress up a laid back look and elongate your legs more than just your average sneaker. (Always a plus!)
Ash, $130.61

3. Pilgrim Pump

I gotta say, I wasn't totally sold on these at first. This trend took a little bit of growing on me, but now I'm in love and need to get my hands on these. I think they look amazing worn with tights and a cute circle skirt. They just scream fall fashion and look so chic and fashion forward.
Zara, $79.90

4. Motorcycle Boot

This trend has been around awhile yet, but I still think these are great. Short booties are great especially if you have bigger calves that don't always work with tall riding boots. (Myself included.) These are a great boot to add a little edginess to your look.
Steve Madden, $99.95

5. Loafer

Loafers are a great flat for winter, especially these with their slight heel. Don't be confused, you may have seen these in your grandmother's closet before, but these are so on trend right now. They can really dress up an outfit, much more than just your average ballet flat. And Sole Society just nails it. Every little detail: the plaid pattern, small heel, and tassel are so on point.
Sole Society, $54.95

The Look of the Day: Punked Out Plaid

Punked out Plaid
Moschino jacket, $490 / Brian Lichtenberg tee, $61 / Topshop leather skirt, $76 / Valentino pumps, $1,045 /
Hermès leather tote, $15,312 / Juicy couture necklace, $215

If I had to describe my style in a few words, it surely wouldn't include 'punk' or 'edgy,' but I'm absolutely loving some of this fall's Rock n' Roll inspired trends, including this look I put together here. Tartan plaid was all over the runway for Autumn/Winter '14 in everything from blazers to trousers to shift dresses. And leather is making a statement especially in skirts, but also pants and dresses. And, how about the all over leather look? (Love that!) And then there's studs. Studs on everything. I'm particularly loving the studded accessories: jewelry, shoes, handbags.
Here in this look I paired a leather circle skirt with a graphic tee. This totally says urban cool. Add some edgy-ness to your look with some studded shoes and a little Rock n' Roll inspired plaid. Tailor it with the structured jacket, a sleek tote, and a statement necklace and you are looking totally put together in plaid!

From Day to Night: Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend Jeans from day to night
H&M long sleeve shirt, $40 / ASOS cropped jeans, $71 / Lucky Brand infinity scarf, $50 / Balenciaga shoulder bag, $1,890 / Cole Haan shoes, $80 / Trouvé open front jacket, $98 / Topshop shoes, $90 / Marc by Marc Jacobs black purse, $529 / Adia Kibur gold jewelry, $70

I'm loving the denim trends these days. Especially the boyfriend jeans. They are comfortable and can look good on almost anyone who wears them. These slouchy jeans have that vintaged, distressed feel, that can be either dressed up or dressed down.

2013 CMA's Best Dressed

Being an Iowa girl, I have to say, I am a country music fan through and through. Having said, I was glued to the TV last night for three hours watching the 47th Annual Country Music Awards. It was one helluva show, and the red carpet fashion was second to none. I've got to hand to country music, they know their fashion. (Well, some of them anyway). I mean, what's up with these men wearing JEANS to a red carpet event...okay we won't get into that. But here are my Best Dressed Nominees:

Happy Birthday Mama Kardash!

Happy Birthday Kris!!

Now if you know me; you know I am a lover of all things Kardashian. So, I thought it was only appropriate to wish Mama Kardashian a very Happy, Happy Birthday!

Welcome!

Hello there! And welcome to Corn-fed Couture. I'm glad you're here.

I wanted to first introduce myself. My name is Molly Glynn. I was born and raised in Iowa, growing up on home-grown sweet corn and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. I have an absolute love for my home state which you will see through this blog, I'm sure. I have since moved to the Twin Cities, where I am in my fourth and final year of college, pursuing a degree in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business Administration.

I created this blog as an outlet, to share with you all my love for fashion. I wanted to create a place where my two worlds can coexist: my big city fashion sense and my small-town heart. My mission is to bring couture to the cornfields. Keep checking back for posts on Outfit of the Day, Steals & Deals, Interviews and much, much more!
